Is Slime Staff good? (2024)

Its actually fairly fantastic in the very early game, and its VERY rare.

However, if you are at the Jungle, the Hornet Staff (dropped by the Queen Bee) is better.

I looked it up. It says 0.05% or 1/10000 so... Yeah make sure he keep that thing safe... ._.

It depends on what platform you are on, but if you are on Console or Mobile, its actually the

drop rate item in the game, at 1/10000, as Swag Beast said. However, that doesn't necessarily make it the rarest, since that drop rate applies to any slime you fight. The title of rarest probably goes to something like the Coin Gun, which also has an absurdly rare drop rate but only drops from Pirates, which you fight far less often than slimes. All things considered though, no matter what version, this is a very rare item and worth keeping if you like to collect things. It will be quite hard to get another.

Wouldn't it be the Nymph Banner? Because you have to fight Nymph 50 times to get the banner and Nymphs are super rare.

Maybe back when they had a drop rate of 1 in 200, but guaranteed at 50 isn't so bad.

Its all luck anyway.

He is in mobile. The guaranteed 50 was in 1.3 so wouldn't the Nymph banner be the rarest item for console and mobile? Because he says that he is in mobile.

Ahh, I missed that.

In all fairness, I would say that even at that version, the Nymph banner is only potentially the rarest . . . Clown and Moth both have distinct traits that make them harder in certain ways. Clown can only be farmed "when you get lucky" and get a Blood Moon, so even though you may face 5 or 6 clowns a night, those nights come rarely. Moths are slightly more common than Nymphs, but harder to "farm" . . . I actually build an AFK grinder that would get occasional Nymph spawns every 20-30 minutes back in 1.2.4, but I never managed it for Moths.

So your mileage may vary.

If you're able to get the Slime Staff in the early game, it is very useful from what I hear. Unfortunately I haven't been able to get the Slime Staff that early in any of my playthroughs, though I'm sure having a minion that early in the game can only be very helpful which may be the reason it is an extremely rare drop. After defeating one of the Dark Biome Bosses (EoW/BoC) the Slime Staff becomes outclassed by either the Hornet Staff or Imp Staff.

Regardless of when you get it, it is still best to keep it. I'd highly recommend against trashing it or selling it in game simply because it is such a rare item. If you really don't want it you could make a high profit from the Slime Staff trading it with other players as they would likely give a very good deal in exchange for the Slime Staff.

The slime deals fast melee damage, which can easily defeat some ground enemies (such as zombies or other slimes), but it isn't that good when it goes with flying enemies.

Since it's rare, you'll most likely get it later in game (until you're extremely lucky). If you manage to get the Lucky Coin, it's an extremely good source of coin farming, because enemies will drop a few coins while taking damage. With this and a good enemy farm, you can get rich without much effort.

Unfortunately, both the Lucky Coin and Slime Staff are very rare items. If you manage to farm them, feel free to combine both items.
